The bone handled cutlery setting in this Mappin and Webb freestanding oak Jacobean cutlery table would have originally been for twelve people, but with the loss of a dessert spoon, it is now a setting for eleven. Some peripheral items have been lost as well, but there are still 102 pieces remaining. The main pieces are
12 bone handled table knives
12 bone handled butter knives
12 table forks
12 dessert forks
11 dessert spoons
6 bone handled fish knives
5 bone handled fish forks, plus a number of items like sauce ladles, large soup spoons, table spoons etc.
The table measures 730 mm in width, 530 mm in depth and stands 750 mm high.
The table and the contents are in very good condition and would date from the late 1920's.
PLEASE NOTE-If the bone handled pieces are washed in a dishwasher they will deteriorate quite quickly. To maintain them,they should be washed quickly by hand in warm soapy water.
