This hand painted and gilded porcelain part dessert service comprises two low comports and six plates and was made by the firm of Grainger's of Worcester. The very pretty painting of roses in delicate pastel colours on a pale cream ground is probably by George Cole (1863-1912) who specialised in painting roses, and used a technique to paint flowers that required only one firing. He was one of the principal artists at Grainger's and was awarded the same status when he transferred to Royal Worcester in 1902. The pattern number is 3358. The diameter of the plates is 220 mm (8.75 inches). The oval comport is 280 mm (11 inches) wide, 215 mm (8.5 inches) deep and stands 40 mm (1.5 inches) high. The kidney shaped comport is 243 mm (9.5 inches) wide, 220 mm (8.75 inches) deep and stands 40 mm (1.5 inches) high. There is some heavy rubbing to the intricate gilding on the comports and some slight rubbing of the ground but no other damage. The plates have some slight rubbing of the gilding. Overall any damage to this set is of a very minor nature. The date mark is for 1893,
